Pleasantville was originally named Benedictown, after founder Aaron Benedict, who came to the area from New York in 1819. Our Pleasantville was the second borough incorporated in Venango County on March 22, 1850. There is another Pleasantville Borough on the other side of the state in Alum Bank, Bedford County.
